Why Hello There. [Nov. 12th, 2009|09:58 pm]

Well Hi Internet. Its been a long time.

I really have very little to add here on any front at all. I got a car, which has been a nice means of getting around. I still work for a large home improvement store in the garden center. Its a decent enough job but can be very very cold when it gets late.

I am still getting most of my internet access from the public library and this is what brings me here today.

I understand that the public library cannot be expected to have the latest and greatest in computing technology. I understand that budgets are tight and are shrinking at every twist and turn. I understand that staffing is short and that the old way has always been just a little bit better than anything new.

I am writing this on a computer running windows 2k. I am running IE from approximately 8 years ago.

Certain fairly well known websites do not exactly render well in this fairly antique web browser.

A very short list I have complied:

Forget anything with any flash.

Youtube will work but sometimes takes its own sweet time.

I have tried on a number of occasions to download my own personal copy of firefox that I just use for the day. This is blocked because of security concerns. I tried getting a copy downloaded it and installing it from a flashdrive. This was also blocked because of security concerns. Forget Firefox. Forget Chrome. Forget Safari. I understand that sometimes these things can be new and foreign and SCARY!!!!! RAWR!!! CHANGE!!!

I just want to update to a web browser that is a bit more modern and can render a few of these things in slightly better quality.

When does a web browser really become antique?

Should youtube be blocked on state owned library public access computers?

Youtube is blocked [May. 16th, 2009|04:18 am]
I am currently getting internet access from my public library.

I log in today and youtube.com is blocked.

Please link for me below your most educational, most wholesome youtube content. It can be a channel or just a video. Help me prove my point that the downfalls of blocking youtube outweigh the benefits.

Urgent news: [May. 13th, 2009|06:26 am]
For Immediate Release from the Desk of pherbear.

I am taking an internet vacation for a bit. I ran into issues in seattle that I won't get into too much detail here with, but know that its mainly school related. I just don't know that I want to be a chef. I will be around on the phone and available to twitter as well, so if you need to speak with me urgently I would recommend those methods of contact. My plans are to rest and re-cooperate a bit, and spend some quality family time with my family and then probably pursue hospitality school. I'm posting this from the Jet Blue Terminal at JFK international airport, and it is most certainly about the nicest terminal I have spent loads of time in. Lots of outlets and free wifi.

till next time.

Writer's Block: Easy Like Sunday Morning [Dec. 28th, 2008|04:29 pm]
[Tags|, ]

Ah, Sunday, the day of rest. What's your favorite way to spend a Sunday morning?

I like to spend my sundays sleeping in. I like to stay up late on saturday night working on various projects and such. I spent today at home sleeping and then woke up and helped my family out with their projects....

Home on Wednesday morning.

Just a real quick note to say I'm not dead, and thanks to all for the wonderful birthday messages.

Quick update with fresh contact info before bed.

206-905-8458 will be a way to get me messages in seattle.

The old way will still work too but this is an additional way that might get checked more often.
